The Jay Uiberall Foundation
honors the legacy of Memphis restaurateur Jay Uiberall by funding innovative programs designed to improve the lives of Memphis youth and young adults. Jay was a leader in the Beale Street business community and co-owner of Automatic Slim’s, Alfred’s On Beale, Dyer’s, Ubee’s, and Catering for U. The Foundation is unique in that it helps donors spend their charitable dollars on vetted nonprofit organizations, whose JUF programs are measured with stringent oversight by the Foundation.

As a grant-making organization, JUF seeks to partner with nonprofits in the Greater Memphis area that offer new and innovative programs that align with our mission, but that may lack the financial resources to implement their vision. Typically, these programs demonstrate high potential to make a positive impact on the lives of our underserved youth and young adults through mentoring, scholarships, intervention, skills–building, critical-thinking development, and more. Please consider becoming a member of our Sustainability Club and make your generosity go even further.

 Our Mission

The Jay Uiberall Foundation partners with nonprofit organizations in the greater Memphis area to fund new programs that not only better the lives of Memphis youth and young adults, but also impact the future of our city. These initiatives demonstrate high potential to positively influence students through education, mentoring, scholarships, intervention, training, higher-level thinking, skill enhancement, and much more.

Who We Serve

JUF raises money to support a number of nonprofit organizations in Memphis that are committed to improving the lives of those less fortunate in our community. “JUF looks for holes in society where a program could help kids and young people improve their lives and pave a path for a brighter future,” says Jay’s father, Michael. “We look for programs that don't have access to funds but would have a true impact in the Memphis community if they did.”
